Born in Brazil (1979), Elenita Queiroz lives in Switzerland since 2016, where she works as a freelance dancer, choreographer, dance educator and cultural manager.  She studied pedagogy and dance at UNICAMP - Campinas State University and cultural management at SESC-SP in São Paulo, Brazil. In Switzerland, she completed a Master of Arts in Expanded Theater at the Bern University of the Arts.

Elenita Queiroz is founder of the cultural association "Basis 56" and associated artist within TanzPlan Ost, Eastern Switzerland.


In 2020, she was awarded the Promotion Prize for Choreography TanzPlan Ost (donated by the Cultural Fund of the Société Suisse des Auteurs (SSA)) and her dance piece "48 seconds" was nominated for the Ober Gerwern Master Prize 2018 (Bern). In Switzerland, Elenita Queiroz created and presented the dance pieces "Off one's Turn" in collaboration with Koma Kollektiv (2017), "48 Seconds" (2018), "NU" (2019), "La ultima" (2020), the transdisciplinary art project "LEFTover" (2021/2022) and more recently "Warning for Contemplation Sections" (2022).


In her previous work, she has been involved in social art projects, and working in both private and public educational institutions as well as collaborating in interdisciplinary art projects in Brazil and abroad. In the last 21 years she has developed around 20 dance pieces and performances and participated in diverse artistic residencies.


Elenita Queiroz is a full-time mother and wife and teaches in St. Gallen and surroundings.
